*In 1993 Marsha Linnehan rose to fame as she developed a mode of counseling that effectively managed symptoms associated with Borderline personality disorder; she called her treatment “Dialectical Behavior Therapy” or “DBT.”
This theory has risen to prominence over the last 20 years, as it teaches people how to acknowledge cognitive, emotional, and behavioral extremes by finding balance between these poles.
However, this thinking existed way before Marsha Linnehan ever lived; in actuality, her philosophies have been prominent within Jewish mysticism and Kabbalah for thousands of years.
During this class, I will introduce the Kabbalistic sefirot and explain their purpose and use in terms of dealing with mental health difficulties. We will use the sefirot to not only conceptualize anxiety and depression, but to also provide a path towards overcoming these troubling conditions.
